DIY : Thanksgiving cards with Toddler!

In this digital era, its sometimes nice to receive a handmade card. I am a sucker for handmade stuff and as a kid I loved making cards.

Toddler S is currently into messy painting ;) so this thanksgiving, to express our gratitude we made some cards for the Montessori teachers.

Things you would need:

  1. Cardstock paper (Preferably some light color)
  2. Washable brown color
  3. Orange, Red, black and green maker
  4. Wiggle eyes
  5. Plate or dish for color

This is the simplest and the most enjoyable type of cards for kids. They can get their hands messy, play around with the colors and still be able to make some great cards!! Yay!!

  • Take a card stock paper fold into into half and cut it. Fold the half again and cut them. (You can make 4 cards / cardstock paper)
  • Pour some color on a dish/plate and let your toddler press their palm into the color. (After we were done with the cards, we let toddler S play with the color so she can get messy, and she had so much fun with that)
  • Have them then press their palm onto the cardstock cut out to get a handprint. (I recommend trying a few times on some other paper first so the toddler knows to press the entire hand and not move it etc etc. Usually they tend to press their fingers only so we had to explain that she needs to press the entire palm on the paper. Also she would move her fingers after pressing the palm on the paper which would mess up the handprint.)
  • Once dry - Mommy painted the legs, bick etc
  • Then toddler S added the turkey embellishments - Wiggle eyes

Add a nice message and your card is ready!!!

Kid friendly wineries!

Visiting wineries with a toddler, it is a requirement to look for wineries that are kid friendly! As we continue our wine adventure, I plan on sharing kid friendly wineries as we explore! Napa Castello Di Amorosa A Tuscan style castle winery with beautiful views! Plan on making reservation during summer, holidays or weekends - It’s a popular spot and guided tours can be sold out. If you don’t plan on doing a guided tour, they offer general admission for two levels of the castle and wine tasting. The castle has grass area outside with some trees. Trees are great on hot summer day to sit and relax. Winery comes with emus, peacocks, goats, sheep and chicken. Great for kids to run around, and play with the animals. The coolest dungeon tasting room, lets you enjoy some wine tasting while the kids are kept happily occupied with breadsticks and grape juice. A knight’s suit of armor in the corner completes the ambiance.St Helena downtown is just...

Wandering Toddler in Kauai,Hawaii!

Napali Coast When you think of Hawaii, you think of beaches, sand and beautiful weather! That's exactly what we had in mind when we thought of going to Hawaii. One of the islands in central Pacific, with tropical weather makes it a perfect vacation destination. We went to the island called "Kauai" this time around. When we plan family vacation here's something's we consider: Time : What's the best time? Truthfully, Hawaii is good all year long. ;) Summers can be really hot but then winter's can be rainy. Having the luxury of planning it without school restrictions, we planned it in September.  Going in September has it's advantages : 1. Cheaper airfares 2. Cheaper hotels/resorts 3. Less crowded 4. Weather is nicer! We went to Kauai, Hawaii mid Sept and found that airfare were cheaper after Labor Day weekend.  Hotel: This particular choice has largely changed since becoming a parent. We no more prefer hotels, rather resor...

DIY : Gifts

Gifts : Gifts is one of those things that everyone loves. And especially with all the festivities, its seems like the gifting/gift giving season. Where I grew up, it wasn't so much about gifting around the festivals or holidays. Something I dislike is the expectation you build about receiving gifts every year. With Toddler S growing up and getting to an age where she understands gifts etc, I thought of starting the concept of gifting as NOT buying new things but gifts/gifting - Is about GIVING Is about making something on your own, make it personal Is about SHARING Well, so with all these festivals - Diwali, Christmas, I wanted to make it all about GIVING! Toddler S has this awesome gift drive at school for the kids in Santa Rosa and I thought that's the best opportunity for us to start this. We bought some random wood trucks, cars, airplanes, colors and some gift boxes from Michaels. Toddler S loves coloring, so we painted them, packed them in ...
